I tried to set my expectations reasonably. In most cases, i chose those labels that i would imagine would be interested in "Vigilante Romance". I gave these labels three chances to do what is right. They failed each time.

I can only hope that they all face considerable losses, immeasurable grief, and heartless horrors in their dim futures.

Here you can read the three letters that i have sent.

STRIKE ONE!

09/22/06

Dear Record Label,

Please find the enclosed 4-track demo version of my new full-length CD "Vigilante Romance". This CD contains four of my favorite songs from my new 13-track album. It should give you a good idea of where i'm coming from and what the album sounds like.

The complete album track listing is as follows:

01. Elect Me
02. It is Better to Die than to Submit
03. The Only Way to Beat Violence is to Smash It
04. When the Law is Unjust it is Not Only Your Right, but Your Duty to Rebel
05. I Laugh as You Die
06. Maurizio Merli
07. I Will Seek Payment Not Only for My Own Anguish, but to Vindicate the Souls of the Unavenged
08. No Mercy
09. The Laws of this Land Will Be Upheld
10. I Worship Life
11. Walk Tall in the Darkness
12. Invincible Winner
13. Love Against the Power of Evil

Also enclosed with this letter is my biography. You can read more about me and my music at my website: http://www.jonzaremba.com.

Please understand that although this music may sound rather lighthearted and whimsical at times, i take it more serious than anything else in my life. I've been doing this for 10 years now and i'll do it until i die whether you release my "Vigilante Romance" or not.

My music brings me joy in two different ways:

01. Joy in the creative process.
02. Joy in the hopes that my music will serve as a tool to change the world in such a way that it becomes more suitable for me to live in it.

So i ask you to please release "Vigilante Romance".

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Jon Zaremba

STRIKE TWO!

10/22/06

Dear Record Label,

My name is Jon Zaremba. Approximately three weeks ago i mailed you a copy of the demo version of my new album, "Vigilante Romance". My reason for writing today is to ask if you've had the opportunity to review it and if you would consider releasing the album version on your label.

I know that in the music industry it is customary to assume that a lack of response is a negative response. While this may be the case in our relationship, i would still like to make every effort possible to get others to hear my work. I could not live with myself if i simply sat back and waited for something to happen.

Please forgive this intrusion.

If you haven't had the chance to listen to my demo, i understand. Please allow this email to serve as a friendly reminder.

If you have listened to it and found it inappropriate for release, please respond so that i can cross you off of my list. I'm not interested in your critical opinion. I just want confirmation one way or the other.

Again, i appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Jon Zaremba

STRIKE THREE!

11/22/06

Dear Record Label,

Although your silence over the past two months most likely means "No", it is only fair that i give you one final chance to do what is both morally righteous and selfishly profitable:

To release "Vigilante Romance" on your label.

My offer is as such:

A. I will work for free. For three years after you release "Vigilante Romance", i will allow your label to collect 100% of the earnings. I only ask that i be permitted to own the master recording and copyright of the album. I do not require neither a tour nor any frills or perks, just some press.

B. It shouldn't cost more than 2 or $3k to press and package this simple-looking album.

C. Perhaps another $1,000 to produce demo copies of the album for promotional purposes will be necessary.

D. I've already secured the rights to release the cover on track 13 by Maurizio of Underground Symphony. All of the rest of the music is 100% original. You may decide to buy the rights to some of the movie samples embedded in the music, but it's not necessary in my opinion.

E. Absolutely zero studio/recording costs.

F. I don't need to be transported.

G. As a worse case scenario, it may be a $5,000 investment from your label. I don't know what your profit margin is on each CD sold. Under these circumstances, i'll assume that it's
about $5 each. Given this figure, all you would need is to move 1,000 units to recoup your costs. If given the chance to speak about my music in interviews and such, you'll have
turned a profit before 2007 ends.

This is your last opportunity. I will not present this album to you again.

Please consider my proposition seriously. If the reader of this letter is just some winged-monkey-type...please do not discard it without letting someone higher up in your label decide for themselves. I understand that your function may be to sift through the large amounts of trash you receive each day, and perhaps your first impression of me is that i'm not worth the time, but i don't trust your judgment.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Jon Zaremba
